A dental new patient check-up is the first appointment you will have with us at Manor Dental. It's an opportunity to establish a baseline for your oral health, address any immediate concerns, and create a treatment plan if needed. Here is what typically happens during a dental new patient check-up:
Medical and Dental History Review:
The dental assistant will review your medical and dental history. This helps identify any potential risk factors or conditions that may impact dental treatment or establish what treatment may be needed.
Initial Conversation:
The dentist or dental therapist will have a conversation with you to discuss any specific concerns, dental goals, and expectations for the visit.
Oral Examination:
The dentist or therapist will perform a comprehensive examination of the jaw, muscles and lymph nodes on the outside of your face, as well as checking the health of the teeth, gums, tongue, and other oral tissues. They will look for signs of cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, and any other dental issues.
X-rays:
X-rays may be taken to get a detailed view of the teeth and jawbone. X-rays can reveal problems that might not be visible during the visual examination, such as decay between teeth or issues beneath the gumline.
Discussion and Treatment Planning:
Based on the examination findings and any X-rays, we will discuss your oral health status, any identified issues, and possible treatment options. We will then create a personalised treatment plan that addresses your needs and goals.
Next Steps:
If further treatments are recommended, we will explain the procedures, associated costs, and any potential benefits or risks.
Scheduling Future Appointments:
You then may schedule follow-up appointments for any necessary treatments or regular check-ups.
